I'm here!

Ok so I'm here, safe and sound. I had good flights... no one directly beside me the whole way, and if you've ever flown 9 hrs at a time you know the value of that!! I saw some interesting things, met and talked to some interesting people. I think the most interesting was the Indian guy beside me (3 seats, the seat between us was empty so not directly beside me which would contradict my earlier statement) on my final flight. He kept coughing at the beginning so what do you do? You offer him a peppermint. Oh my word, you would have thought I gave him $100! He thanked me about 8 times over 8 hours! And I'm not even kidding! Then I guess he thought it was his duty to help me in every way he could. At one point during the meal I was trying to get my knife out of the little tray thing, I couldn't find it, dude reaches over and grabs my knife and presents it to me. I"m like, "umm thanks" (and no you didn't just invade my bubble!) haha =) We also helped each other fill out our entry forms, and he kept checking on me all through the lines through immigration. Baggage claim was good... if you hate it in America then you'd certainly loathe it over here!!!! Ok so there's all these carts, and people, crowding up as close as possible to the belt. And naturally it took mine forever to arrive, which I was tall enough to stand back and just watch for them, but buddy I sure did push my way up when I saw my bags! Everyone is very helpful here though and wanted to help... the nice airport guys kept offering and I kept refusing, and finally one just took over my cart... then another dude walks up to help too, he had volunteered to help me earlier... well I wasn't happy about this because I knew I didn't have any local money to pay them. So we get to the end of the walkway and the first guy says "We take tips." I'm thinking, "really? that's nice, and that's also why I didn't want your help!" so I sweetly reply, "I understand that but I have only US Dollars." oh they were happy to take those. So I had them each a $1, they didn't do that much! Well the second guy starts arguing with me, he needed $20. Oh I got so fighting mad, he wouldn't even touch the money! Finally I said, "Well this is all I have and either you take it or nothing!" He still wasn't taking it so I put it back in my bag and started to walk away! At this point I'm looking for the people to pick me up, frantically after my swindling encounter with nationals!! I found them and was never so happy to see friendly faces! We made it back to my apartment, it was 1am here, so there was no one on the streets which they said would I would never see again! lol!! I got to my apartment, it's so cute! I'll put pics up on here soon! I didn't sleep excellent, but will force myself to stay up all day so maybe I'll sleep good tonight. At least I have a/c in my bedroom! Yay!

As I'm reading the Book last night, in my room, this curtain rod falls down! My heart was pounding, just knowing evil was present. I immediately lifted up and requested His presence! (And I left the curtain on the floor!)

Ok so that's my first almost 12 hrs in country!!!

Laura =)

p.s. went to the kitchen this morning, and saw a cute little bitty lizard on the window sill of my dining room... hmmm that's nice! but he saw me and went back outside... he knows where he's not welcome! =)

So exciting! I'm glad I couldn't sleep at 3:30 this morning so I could talk to you! Can't wait for pics!
