Mahindi... for real!

So last Wednesday another Jgirl and I took off to a different area of town where we met up with a third Jgirl... all for the purpose of getting henna done...or mahindi as it's called here. There are these 3 guys that sit outside in the 3rd girl's neighborhood, and they're really good! People come from all over to these guys to have it done. It was a rather interesting experience. Michelle had printed of a Chri'stian version of mahindi, telling the Story from Creation to Ch'rist. He attempted to oblige her, making his own variety in there. He had trouble with the cross... because I mean really, that extra line at the top is not really all that important right? Actually it's a mess up, it's supposed to look more like a capital T, huh?? LOL! We had to direct him quite a bit. So then I get a different guy, but since I had to wait while Michelle got hers done I looked through the books they had there and had seen an elephant included in a design. Knowing my love for elephants, I HAD to have this done! So I sit down and tell the guy... "elephant!" He kinda nodded like he sorta understood. So he gets done with my first arm... no elephant was included in any design in any way, shape or form on my arm. Hmm, but ok. So he's ready to start the next arm... and I repeat, "elephant!" even tried his language word for it, "hati!" That's when he tells the truth... "no". He can't do it. So on that arm he did whatever designs he wanted, just like he had done on my other arm. *Sigh* And that's how my non-elephant mahindi came to be! =)
